Hi, we're Puma and Andy
I, (Puma) am from Northern Thailand, yet it was while working as a barmaid in an English pub that Andy and I met. Little did we know this would lead to amazing adventures in snacking!
Back at home, traditional Thai food was always on the menu at family mealtimes. And, somewhat unusually for an English chap, Andy ran a Thai restaurant in London. Well, how could we not make delicious Thai delights together!
When I first came to the U.K., I was always looking out for tasty snacks. But the flavours just weren’t what I was used to; surely there was something better?
And, when Andy and I cooked together, we became intrigued by the hand-made rice crackers that were taken into battle by the warriors of Old Siam. So, with this as inspiration, Neats Snacks was born.
We set out to make a westernised version of the warriors’ rice cracker, and after many tastings, we hit the savoury spot. On a roll, we set up our production in Thailand, found a U.K. manufacturer, designed our packaging, and did all the other things to set up the business…
Fast forward a couple of years and Neat’s rice crackers are stocked on the high street, online, and by the National Trust. And, you can buy them here on our website using the links above.
Our Rice Family
Neat’s has taken great leaps and bounds to get where we are today, none of which would have been possible without the people of my homeland.
Our rice cakes are hand-crafted in Northern Thailand by farming communities that we affectionately think of as our rice family. These communities undertake the first stage of production, which we do as authentically as possible.
We feel a great sense of gratitude towards these people. So, we donate a percentage of our sales to them and focus on underprivileged children who are unable to get a good education.
To facilitate this, we partner with a Thai charity that provides educational scholarships, developmental assistance and medical care to children. Please do find out more about The Sainam Foundation here.
